CNTD has worked extensively with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC), Tanzania to plan and undertake a programme of MDA to eradicate Lymphatic Filariasis.

We were involved in the initial mapping of LF prevalence in Tanzania. After this, we supported the training of 12956 community drug distributors and the MDAs themselves in the Dar es Salaam region; treating 18,091,654 people over 4 rounds.  We have assisted Tanzania in their assessment of MDA effectiveness through MDA coverage surveys and the monitoring of remaining prevalence using sentinel site surveys.

CNTD has worked with the MoHCDGEC to undertake a morbidity burden assessment in Dar es Salaam using the MeasureSMS mHealth tool with 1500 community health vounteers trained to identify patients, 358 health workers trained in reporting of cases through SMS.  We have also supported the provision of hydrocelectomies resulting in 400 surgeries being performed in the region.
