CNTD has worked extensively with Mozambique to plan and undertake a programme of MDA to eradicate Lymphatic filariasis.

We supported the training of 11,007 community drug distributors and the MDAs themselves; treating 52,409,176 people over 5 rounds since 2009.  We have assisted Mozambique in their assessment of MDA effectiveness through MDA coverage surveys and the monitoring of remaining prevalence using sentinel sites surveys.

Mozambique has begun work to establish a Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention programme for LF. CNTD has worked with the MoH to undertake a morbidity burden assessment. We have assisted in the provision of Hydrocelectomies through supporting the training of surgeons as well as Hydrocelectomy initiatives that have resulted in X hydrocelectomies being performed.  As part of the long term care of Lymphoedema patients, we have worked to build capacity through the training of health workers in lymphoedema management.
