CNTD has worked extensively with Burkina Faso to plan and undertake a programme of MDA to eradicate Lymphatic Filariasis.
We were involved in the initial mapping of LF prevalence in Burkina Faso. After this, we supported the training of 13006 community drug distributors and the MDAs themselves; treating 7742841 people over 6 rounds. We have assisted Burkina Faso in their assessment of MDA effectiveness through MDA coverage surveys, surveys of CDDs and the monitoring of remaining prevalence using sentinel site surveys. After a successful MDA campaign, we supported Burkina Faso in passing their Transmission Assessment Survey (TAS).
CNTD has worked with the MoH to undertake a morbidity burden assessment. We have assisted in the provision of Hydrocelectomies through initiatives that have resulted in 1100 hydrocelectomies being performed. As part of the long term care of Lymphoedema patients, we have worked to build capacity through the training of 3038 health workers in lymphoedema management and 1066 health workers in the referral of patients to appropriate services.
