Xavier Badia Rius

Xavier completed his BSc in Biomedical Sciences at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2017. In 2020, he completed his MSc in Public Health (Health Services Management) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Xavier joined in 2017 the Centre for Neglected Tropical Diseases (CNTD) as part of a studentship programme. In 2018, Xavier started working at CNTD as a programme coordinator acquiring significant experience in the implementation of NTD programmes focusing on supporting Ministries of Health with programme and technical advice on activities such as Mass Drug Administration, Monitoring & Evaluation and Morbidity Management and Disability Prevention for patients suffering from LF-related conditions. As part of the DFID-funded LF Elimination Programme and the Consortium-led Accelerating the Sustainable Control and Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (Ascend) West and Central Africa Programme, Xavier has experience in assisting and managing LF programmes in Mozambique, Liberia, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Niger and Cote d’Ivoire, following the pillars of the Global Programme to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis launched by WHO. In addition, Xavier has worked promoting the health system strengthening and sustainability of LF projects; developing Standard Operation Procedures for national NTD programmes; and planning, coordinating and analysing coverage surveys and Transmission Assessment Surveys.
