Jennifer Schmidt

Project Manager (Education)

Prior to joining LSTM in 2018, I spent close to a decade working as a Commissioning Editor in academic book publishing for companies such as Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge/Taylor & Francis and Bloomsbury Publishing. Originally from Berlin, I have been living in the UK since 2001.

I graduated with a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Politics from the University of Liverpool in 2004 and was awarded an MPhil in Politics (Comparative Government) by the University of Oxford in 2006.

In 2009, I obtained an MA in Conflict, Development and Security from the University of Leeds. I have worked as a volunteer in Gulu, northern Uganda (2008) and Nepal (2002) and have travelled extensively by myself in Asia, South America and East Africa.

My current role focuses on the delivery of LSTM's Education Development Plan (EDP), one of the three major goals identified in LSTM’s Strategic Plan 2017-2023. This encompasses the development of a re-designed and expanded portfolio of LSTM's MSc programmes as well as the launch of new online and campus-based teaching programmes.

Prior to its cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was part of the organising committee for the 2020 Equality in Science Symposium. I am also an associate member of the LSTM BAME Staff Network. Beyond LSTM, I am a member of the Association of Project Management (APM).
