CNTD has worked extensively with Ghana to plan and undertake a programme of MDA to eradicate Lymphatic Filariasis.
We were involved in the initial mapping of LF prevalence in Ghana. After this, we supported the training of 6000 community drug distributors and the MDAs themselves; treating 8,620,175 people over 4 rounds. We have assisted Ghana in their assessment of MDA effectiveness through MDA coverage surveys, surveys of CDDs and the monitoring of remaining prevalence using sentinel site surveys. After a successful MDA campaign, we supported Ghana in passing the Transmission Assessment Survey (TAS) and are worked with the country in developing a post-MDA surveillance strategy to ensure that the disease does not return.
