A key aspect of CNTD’s work is operational research, we are committed to producing research which is of practical importance to the programmes we support but also to the wider NTD community.
Our operational research activities assist national programmes in finding solutions for complex problems, improve programme planning activities, tackle on the ground decision problems and test alternative techniques to optimise treatment and implementation.
We support national programme teams to develop skills in methods to solve practical problems such as how to search for and map LF patients across wide geographical areas. CNTD has developed low cost mobile phone tools for community based health care workers to report numbers of patients with hydrocele and/or lymphoedema to the national programme team. This assists in the planning and deployment of resources and in locating those patients for treatment and care.
